Man United star could make £20 million Italy switch

The Premier League returns this weekend, with Manchester United hosting Arsenal on Sunday afternoon in one of the more intriguing matches.

Ruben Amorim’s side struggled last season and ultimately finished 15th in the Premier League table, meaning they won’t compete in Europe this time around.

The Portuguese may have only taken charge of the Red Devils in November, but he already finds himself under pressure to improve his side’s performances.

This summer United have been busy in the transfer market, with Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo among those to have arrived at Old Trafford.

Now, it appears that one member of Amorim’s squad could soon depart the club.

As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, winger Jadon Sancho has opened the door to a possible move to Italian side Roma.

He claims that the Serie A giants have made an offer worth a total of £20 million for the Englishman, who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford.

The offer is said to consist of an initial loan deal with an obligation-to-buy clause included, with the criteria to trigger the clause likely to be activated easily.

Sancho, 25, joined the Red Devils from German side Borussia Dortmund in 2021, having been one of the standout players in the Bundesliga for the previous two seasons.

He has since struggled for United, though, and has had loan spells with both former club Dortmund and Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Sancho spent last season on loan at Stamford Bridge, scoring five goals and providing ten assists, but the Blues ultimately paid a £5 million penalty to avoid signing the player permanently.

The England international is under contract at Old Trafford until the end of the upcoming campaign, but it appears very likely that he will depart the club this summer.

Romano also claims that, despite recent rumours, Sancho isn’t currently interested in a proposed move to Turkey at this stage of his career.
