Tim Stillman from Arseblog News reports that Arsenal’s Laura Wienroither is set to sign a permanent deal with Manchester City this summer. The defender spent the second half of last season on loan with City, making five appearances and also featuring in the World Sevens Tournament. Arsenal have already strengthened their defensive options, bringing in Jenna Nighswonger during the January transfer window and Taylor Hinds from Liverpool this summer.
Laura Wienroither Career Highlights
Wienroither began her career in Austria with TSV Frankenburg, before moving on to Union Kleinmünchen, SV Neulengbach, and later SKN St. Pölten. In 2018, she made her first move abroad, signing with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany. During her time there, the club secured a third-place finish in the Frauen-Bundesliga, and her performances earned her a transfer to Arsenal.
Shortly after joining the Gunners, Wienroither suffered a serious ACL injury, which sidelined her for a significant period. In the meantime, Arsenal signed Emily Fox, and head coach Renée Slegers now favors Katie Reid as the backup in that position. As of now, her next destination remains unknown.

Manchester City have announced the signing of Eartha Cumings, who joins the club from FC Rosengård on a three-year deal. The Scottish goalkeeper played every game in the 2024 season, conceding only nine goals and keeping 18 clean sheets. Her outstanding performances earned her the Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
This won’t be Cumings’ first stint in English football. She has previously played for Spartans, Bristol City, Charlton, Liverpool, and Everton.
What Eartha Cumings had to say
“I think it’s an exciting team and it’s always nice to come close to home. There are a lot of young players, but also a bit of a mix [with experience] and obviously, City has really high ambitions and aspirations, so it’s an exciting time to be a part of this team.
“From the outside, it looks like a really great goalkeeper union and like it looks like they have great fun. So, I’m looking forward to being part of it.”
