'Will get better': Tim Sherwood shares confident prediction on Carlos Baleba amid Manchester United interest

Manchester United have already splashed the cash on four new faces, but Ruben Amorim still wants to add another midfielder.

Ruben Amorim must improve Manchester United as he enters his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.

United snapped up Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers early in the window, but had to wait a while before securing signing number two.

Bryan Mbeumo finally joined United in July after more than a month of negotiations, though Benjamin Sesko’s arrival at Old Trafford was a much swifter affair.

Youngster Diego Leon also arrived, but the focus is on United’s three major attacking additions ahead of the new season.

United remain in the hunt for further signings, though, with a new midfielder becoming a key target for Amorim.

Tim Sherwood shares Carlos Baleba transfer prediction

United would love to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion, though the price tag could be prohibitive.

Brighton want north of £100million for Baleba, and United may struggle to reach that kind of asking price this summer.

United have spoken to Baleba’s representatives about a potential move to Old Trafford, and will retain an interest as the summer transfer window heads towards its conclusion.

Baleba will start the season as a Brighton player, and he is being backed for a huge campaign by pundit Tim Sherwood.

Speaking on the official Premier League website, Sherwood suggested that Baleba will be the Premier League’s best young player this season.

Sherwood added that Baleba was ‘great’ for Brighton last season, and predicts that he will only get better in the 2025-26 campaign.

The former Tottenham boss even believes that this could be Baleba’s final season at Brighton, predicting a move to a ‘bigger’ club in 2026.

“He had a great second season for Brighton, and he will get better and probably move to a ‘bigger’ club,” said Sherwood.

United may actually agree with that verdict, hence their desire to tie up a deal this summer.

More and more suitors are bound to be attracted to Baleba in a year’s time, especially if he continues to shine for Brighton.

Competition will be rife and, unless United improve considerably under Amorim this season, there may be better offers on the table.

Baleba is still only 21 but is really fulfilling early comparisons towards former Seagulls star Moises Caicedo.

Speaking on YouTube in 2023, Fabrizio Romano noted that Brighton saw Baleba as the ‘new Caicedo’ after selling the Ecuadorian to Chelsea.

Baleba was just a teenager with Lille at the time, but Brighton struck the deal and will certainly feel proud of that signing.

The Cameroon international could be Brighton’s next huge sale, and whether it’s United or other clubs, we will surely hear plenty of interest in Baleba’s signature in the upcoming transfer windows.
