As Leeds United finalise their deal to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin, reports are suggesting that the 49ers aren’t done there with striker investment.
United’s attacking contingent is yet to see any further reinforcements after Lukas Nmecha, but one is expected imminently at Elland Road.
Another free transfer was agreed on Wednesday, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin was pencilled in for a medical at Thorp Arch after his previous exit from Everton.

Leeds United claimed to be interested in signing Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis
Calvert-Lewin takes Leeds up to three striker options for the season ahead, four if you’re counting Harry Gray in that group too.
To many, the England international signals the end of Leeds’ long-running search for striker recruitment, but the BBC’s Nick Mashiter reports that United aren’t done there.
It is claimed that Leeds are interested in Panathinaikos and Greece striker Fotis Ioannidis, who has previously attracted attention from Ipswich Town last summer, while Portuguese duo Porto and Sporting CP remain in pursuit.

Ioannidis, 25, has 51 goals and 15 assists across 187 appearances for Panathinaikos while he’s been capped 17 times by his country, scoring six.
Ioannidis’ sensational Conference League goal shown above was named the Goal of the Season by UEFA for the 24/25 campaign in that competition.
The striker penned a contract extension back in November 2024 that keeps him at his Panathinaikos until 2028, currently the club captain.
Is Fotis Ioannidis the striker Leeds United need?
Ioannidis brings more to the table than just goals, so his return of 11 goals and one assist over in Greece doesn’t paint the whole picture, but doesn’t fill you with confidence.
How serious this interest is remains to be seen too, because there’s every chance he’s a player Leeds were looking at alongside Calvert-Lewin interest – it would be bizarre to commit to Calvert-Lewin’s likely high wage demands only to have him as a rotation option.
Ioannidis strikes me as the option you’d have instead of DCL or Nmecha, not alongside both of them, but we’ll have to see if anything comes of this interest.
