£37.5M deal could open door for Leeds United transfer

Last season, Leeds United managed to score 95 goals in the Championship on their way to promotion. Most of it was down to Daniel Farke’s attacking style.

But the players made the system – Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo were flying fullbacks who could produce in the box. Leeds created so much from wide areas, which allowed Joel Piroe to rack up the goals.

The club’s wingers also benefitted a lot, scoring on transitions. One of the most important players last season was Manor Solomon. The Leeds loanee had 10 goals and 12 assists to help the club seal the title on the final day. Solomon was a more direct option that the rest of Leeds’ wingers, which gave the attack a cutting edge.

He returned to Spurs on loan, and as mentioned by Daniel Farke, the club have failed to replace him.

Nottingham Forest agree £37.5million deal

Dan James, Jack Harrison, Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani will be the wide players going into this season. One might say they lack that cutting edge Solomon provided. Leeds are in the market for alternatives.

According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing a deal to sign Omari Hutchinson for £37.5million. The winger could find himself back in the Premier League, after being relegated with Ipswich last season.

Hutchinson would be the second big money signing on the wing after Forest signed Dan Ndoye a few weeks ago.

If the deal is completed, that would rule out the club signing Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa. Leeds can now move for the 22-year old, who has been on the club’s radar since they missed out on Igor Paixao.

Price tag would be a bit too high

Nottingham had a bid of £26.2million rejected by Strasbourg. That would have been the highest fee Leeds would have paid for a signing this summer. And considering the quality of Bakwa, it would not be worth it.

Leeds almost signed Igor Paixao for that price range, paying similar for a 22-year old who has nine league goals in the last two years.
