Liverpool and their Premier League rivals often keep recruitment matters private, but that doesn’t stop fans from searching for clues.
Bukayo Saka recently posted a photo of Eberechi Eze in the background of a photoshoot for New Balance, which got Arsenal fans talking amid links to the Crystal Palace star.
Ethan Nwaneri also wore a Sporting CP shirt – just weeks before the Gunners signed Viktor Gyokeres from the Portuguese giants – which set Arsenal fans off.
Now, Curtis Jones has delivered a similar hint which suggests Liverpool could be signing Alexander Isak before transfer deadline day.
What Curtis Jones did while filming with the Premier League
The Premier League asked a range of stars to perform their trademark celebration for a video ahead of the new 2025/26 campaign kicking off.
Interestingly, after 49 seconds had passed, Jones opted to pull off the pointing celebration Isak memorably did against Liverpool after scoring in the Carabao Cup final back in March, which helped Newcastle record a 2-1 win.
To the best of our knowledge, the Liverpool No.17 does not do this celebration himself, instead usually celebrating with a knee slide or another way to outpour emotion, but rarely the pointing gesture, if ever.
Therefore, it could be a subtle nod towards Liverpool signing Isak in the coming weeks, although the Reds are set to welcome Giovanni Leoni from Parma before anybody else arrives – a £30m deal for the Italian is imminent.
The latest on Liverpool and Alexander Isak
The Isak saga is beginning to turn nasty at Newcastle.
TBR Football understand Isak has been told to train alone by Eddie Howe, although the Swede had no intention of being involved anyway, as he now sees his future away from Tyneside.
Liverpool have already seen one bid worth £110m rejected for the Newcastle No.14 – and are currently assessing the situation before making a second, although an improved offer is expected to be sent.
In the meantime, the Magpies are assessing a range of potential replacements, including Nicolas Jackson – who is keen on a move to Newcastle – Ollie Watkins and Yoane Wissa.
