Fulham have unexpectedly entered the race to sign Manchester United's striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer, as Marco Silva looks to replace Rodrigo Muniz, according to reports. AC Milan are believed to be leading the chase for Hojlund ahead of the transfer deadline, but Fulham could provide him with the opportunity to remain in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim has made it clear that the 22-year-old forward doesn't fit into his plans for the upcoming season, having focused his summer recruitment on building a revamped attack. United have splashed out over £200million to bring in Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Amorim gave a strong hint of his intentions by leaving Hojlund on the bench during the Red Devils' final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina at Old Trafford.

Hojlund also only played for 18 minutes in the last match of the United States tour against Everton in Atlanta, as Sesko's arrival became imminent.

Despite being at United for just two years, Hojlund has been hesitant to abandon his dream of playing for the club, but there is a growing consensus that his time there is already up, reports the Express.

Milan are providing an appealing alternative, with discussions ongoing about a £4m season-long loan plus a £39m option to buy with the bosses at Old Trafford.

However, Fulham could also be in the running. The Daily Mail reports that the Cottagers are tentatively interested in signing Hojlund before the transfer deadline.

Atalanta are keen on Muniz, leaving Silva scouring the market for a potential replacement should his striker head to Italy.

The report further suggests that Fulham would want confirmation of Hojlund's willingness to move to Craven Cottage before formalising their interest.

However, if the Danish international were to leave United this summer, Milan would likely be a more attractive option than another Premier League club.

Hojlund is among several players that the Red Devils are actively looking to offload before the summer deadline.

AS Roma have made a £20m bid for Jadon Sancho, while Chelsea are in discussions over a deal for Alejandro Garnacho.

Real Betis are trying to re-sign Antony following a successful loan spell last season, but they may struggle to meet United's financial demands.

Tyrell Malacia, along with Sancho, Garnacho and Antony, is training away from Amorim's squad and is also expected to leave.
