NBA 2K26has revealed several players' OVRs for the latest installment, including the class of 2026's best rookies. In NBA 2K, as in similar sports games, each player is given a series of stats, including scoring, defense, playmaking, potential, and athleticism, ranked out of 100. These are then aggregated into an overall score, or OVR, also out of 100 - although it's rare for any player, even the best in the league, to score more than a 99.
OVRs are important for a wide variety of reasons: they're very helpful for scouting new players in MyTEAM mode, or deciding how to train and develop players already on your team. It's also considered an honor, reserved for the absolute best players in the NBA, to be given a 99 (or above). Rookies tend to be ranked a little lower, reflecting their lack of experience and growth potential, but even so, some easily outrank the others.

With NBA 2K26 set for release next month, 2K has revealed the top ten rookies of the year by OVR. This year's prospects range from 72 OVR to 82, which is a pretty big spread.
It's rare, in general, for 2K to give any rookie more than an 80 OVR in their first season. Most of the top ten rookies come in at between 72 and 78 OVR, with only one this year surpassing the 80 mark.

The following table details the ten top-rated rookies in NBA 2K26, including their OVRs and the team they play for. Do note that, in a couple of cases, these rookies were traded to other teams after drafting; their most current team is reflected here.
Name OVR Team
Cooper Flagg 82 Dallas Mavericks
Dylan Harper 78 San Antonio Spurs
Ace Bailey 77 Utah Jazz
V.J. Edgecombe 76 Philadelphia 76ers
Kon Knueppel 75 Charlotte Hornets
Tre Johnson 75 Washington Wizards
Khaman Maluach 74 Phoenix Suns
Jeremiah Fears 73 New Orleans Pelicans
Egor Demin 72 Brooklyn Nets
Collin Murray-Boyles 72 Toronto Raptors
Although it's not much of a surprise, Cooper Flagg is the odd man out here - the only rookie in 2K26 with an OVR of more than 80. A first-round draft pick by the Dallas Mavericks, 2K is making a big bet on Flagg right out of the gate. Hopefully, he's able to back that up and maybe climb the rankings once the NBA season starts in earnest.
Rounding out the top three are Spurs point guard Dylan Harper, and Jazz small forward Ace Bailey. Khaman Maluach is a bit of a unique case, having been drafted to the Houston Rockets before being traded to the Suns.
For now, that's all we know about the top rookies in 2K26 - more detailed stats are likely to come after launch. NBA 2K26 is slated for release on September 5, 2025, so it won't be too much longer of a wait now.
