Manchester United are now pursuing Quinten Timber as an alternative to Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, according to Football Transfers. The FC Utrecht midfielder, twin brother of Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber is firmly on the radar of Ruben Amorim, who took charge at Old Trafford earlier this summer.
Arsenal fans will remember Quinten’s name well. Before Jurrien’s arrival from Ajax in 2023, the Gunners were briefly linked with the dynamic midfielder, whose ball-carrying and pressing style seemed a natural fit for Mikel Arteta’s system. While no formal bid materialised, scouts were well aware of his progress in the Eredivisie.

Now, United are stepping in and the twist is hard to ignore. Amorim, who built his reputation on fluid, aggressive midfield units at Sporting CP, is looking for the right profile to replace Baleba in his plans. Quinten’s box-to-box energy and tactical intelligence tick the boxes.
From an Arsenal perspective, the storyline writes itself: the Timber brothers could have been teammates in North London. Instead, if Amorim gets his way, they may end up on opposite sides of the Premier League’s most historic rivalry.

Whether Arsenal revisit their interest remains to be seen, Andrea Berta’s current focus is firmly on Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo but Gunners supporters will be watching developments closely. A move to Old Trafford would not only take a talented player off the market, it would also add a personal subplot when Arsenal face United later this season.
