Leeds United star has made transfer decision – Daniel Farke has accepted verdict

Despite having a solid pre-season and going into the season on a high, many feel Leeds United are lacking something. Especially up top in attack, where fans and pundits alike have criticized recruitment.

Even Daniel Farke has pointed out that the team lack some quality in that area. And now that Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph will not be in the team’s plans for next season, it is important that some new faces are added. BBC Radio Leeds’ Adam Pope says it is a concern that only one attacker has been signed so far:

“You add into the mix that Patrick Bamford is now not a part of his Daniel Farke’s plans and Lukas Nmecha was a free agent, so basically they’re worse off now than in the Championship,”

Leeds have taken one huge step, agreeing a deal to sign free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Brenden Aaronson makes Leeds United transfer decision

Brenden Aaronson has been one of the Leeds players who has had a rather quiet pre-season. There has been no news surrounding him, despite many thinking that Leeds would upgrade on him this summer. According to Graeme Bailey, the midfielder is happy to stay at Elland Road this summer.

“Brenden Aaronson has had a good pre-season. There was talk he would look for a return to the Bundesliga but that did not come to pass and he is happy at Elland Road. To be fair, Daniel Farke hasn’t really tried to move him. Leeds really want squad depth so even if we saw late moves for Manor Solomon and Emi Buendia or more, that doesn’t mean Aaronson would leave. Far from it.”

Where does Aaronson play this season?

With Daniel Farke looking at changing the shape to a 4-3-3, it raises a lot of questions. Aaronson was the orthodox number 10 in the 4-2-3-1 last year. But as seen in the Villarreal game, his future could lie out wide.

He had a decent game in that role, and could be an option Leeds rely on if they do not find a first choice winger. There has also been a suggestion that he could play as part of a midfield three – in a similar role to how he operated on loan in the Bundesliga. Daniel Farke is going to move Aaronson around a lot in his systems this season.
