Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are gearing up to make a €70 million offer to sign Barcelona attacker Dani Olmo.
Tottenham are looking to further reinforce their attack ahead of the new season, and they have their eyes set on Dani Olmo. According to a report from Fichajes, the North London club are ready to make a €70 million offer to sign the Spanish international before the transfer deadline.
Olmo was a part of Barcelona’s youth setup back in the day. While things didn’t work out for him at La Masia back then, he secured a return to the club last summer after making a name for himself at RB Leipzig,
Despite struggling with injuries, Olmo had quite an interesting debut campaign as he finished with 12 goals and seven assists in just over 1,900 minutes of first-team action spread across his 39 appearances.
While he prefers operating as a number ten, the 27-year-old is versatile enough to feature anywhere across the attack and has proven to be a valuable asset for Hansi Flick. His current deal at Barcelona runs until the summer of 2030, and although Olmo is happy at the club, his future has become an intriguing talking point amid interest from Tottenham.
The North London club have made Mathys Tel’s move permanent and have added Mohammed Kudus to their ranks this summer. While the duo certainly add a lot to their attack, Thomas Frank still seeks more quality in the final third following an injury to James Maddison.
Tottenham to go all out for Olmo
With the former Leicester City star out for a while, Spurs are looking for a new number ten, and Olmo is a perfect fit for them. Meanwhile, his versatility could also help them cope with Son Heung-min’s departure.
He will add a lot of creativity, pace, as well as goals to the mix. The 27-year-old could be just the perfect signing to help Frank have a dominating start at his new club. While Barcelona were not actively looking to cash in on him, they find themselves in quite a difficult position.
They need to raise funds if they want to register new signing Marcus Rashford. While Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury has helped them register Joan Garcia, they need to offload players and make room on their wage bill to get the English international in their squad.
Barcelona can certainly afford to let go of Olmo, as they have Fermin Lopez and Gavi, who feature in a similar role. While it will be a sporting blow, it will certainly help them with their finances. The €70 million offer from Spurs will certainly make the Catlan giants think twice, as it will be enough to register Rashford for the new season.
