Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been one of the NFL’s most inspiring stories after defying the odds and becoming a legitimate threat at safety for one of the league’s best teams.
Facing the Cincinnati Bengals near the end of the 2022 season, he went into cardiac arrest on the field and had to be revived by paramedics.
It was one of the scariest sights any sports fan has ever seen, and Hamlin has taken the scenario in stride and become a beacon in so many ways since then.
He is now going viral for deciding to commemorate his journey in the form of a large back tattoo, which he recently showed off on social media.
“It features his NFL accomplishments and a ‘Pray for Damar’ flag,” Dov Kleiman wrote on X.

Hamlin reportedly was asleep during the process, presumably so multiple artists could work on him at the same time, and so he could get it completed in one long session instead of gradually over time.
The tattoo features a collage of images related to the injury, including the phrase “Did we win?” at the top, which was apparently one of the first things he said after the scary incident.
Hamlin isn’t running from what happened or trying to push it under the rug, and he is now wearing it as a literal badge of honor.
The veteran has become a weapon for the Bills defense as well, as he had 89 combined tackles and his first two career interceptions in 2024.
