Ward advocates for stability at the top from Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Even though Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward has spent the last five years playing for four different football teams, he understands the importance of consistency.

“You see it with the best quarterbacks out there,” said Ward, referring to their sustained relationship with their head coaches. “Tom Brady has stability. Lamar, he has stability. Pat, he has stability. So I just think a lot of guys who have stability in the NFL can succeed, I wouldn’t say at a faster rate, but can succeed long-term. And I just think that’s what we need at Tennessee. We haven’t had that in a long time.”

Ward didn’t specify what he meant by that last sentence, whether it was the roster turnover or changes made to the coaching staff and front office. But, he clearly stated he believes head coach Brian Callahan is the right person to help the QB grow into what he wants to become.

“Me and coach Callahan just continually build our relationship like we’ve been doing since he drafted me. He’s one of the best head coaches out there, and I want to be a reason why at the end of the year, he can be one of the top five head coaches in the NFL,” Ward said.

It’s noteworthy that Callahan’s job security is fundamentally tied to Ward’s growth and success. The Titans hope that it’s a symbiotic relationship that produces wins for the long-run.

The question is, how much patience will the Titans’ brass have in that relationship to see it through?
