‘No intention’–Fabrizio Romano delivers more encouraging Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer news

Liverpool are pushing to sign Newcastle superstar Alexander Isak to close the summer 2025 transfer window, and if they can manage to land one of the Premier League’s two best strikers, the reigning champions will have pulled off by far the best window in European football.

Already, Liverpool brought in two of the biggest splashes in the league in Eintracht Frankfurt young gun Hugo Ekitike and three-time Bundesliga Player of the Season winner Florian Wirtz to playmake for the legendary Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool are riding high but still hungry for more, and although Newcastle haven’t budged on their position with Isak, the Reds remain interested in the Swedish international and hopeful they can strike a blockbuster deal before Aug. 31.

And they continue to have reasons to be optimistic that a deal for the 25-year-old Premier League superstar will get done. In his latest transfer news update, Fabrizio Romano relays, that Alexander Isak remains “clear” in his outlook.

Alexander Isak has a ‘clear desire’

He has “no intention” of playing for Newcastle and being in the squad for the upcoming Premier League battles to kick off the season against top-five competitors Aston Villa and Liverpool themselves.

Isak continues to reject any attempts from Newcastle to sign him to a new deal, and the man with 29 Premier League goal contributions in the 2024/25 season has a “clear desire” to join Liverpool.

Fab couldn’t have used the word “clear” more. As much as Newcastle have to be praised for clamping down and serving Isak the business, they really can’t hold a player against his will – and they can’t afford to have Isak sitting on the bench for an entire year if he has no intention of playing.

It’s a game of hardball, and Isak is one of those characters in world football who has to be believed when he puts his feet down like that. Liverpool only have to keep pushing for a couple of more weeks, because it seems like he is their guy to win.
