Josh Grizzard Will Stay On The Sidelines Calling Plays
August 14th, 2025
New Bucs playcaller Josh Grizzard.
Everybody associated with the Buccaneers seems to love the team camaraderie.
Heck, Jamel Dean said the club is better than the one winning the Super Bowl four years ago.
The postive vibes are something rookie offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard feels, too, so he told Joe today in the bowels of the Steelers’ stadium in Pittsburgh.
That vibe is a reason Grizzard will be back on the sidelines calling plays against the Steelers on Saturday night. Prior to the season, Grizzard wasn’t sure where he would call games and said it could be sky high in a coach’s booth, where he was last season as one of Liam Coen’s eyes above the field.
After preseason Week 1 against Tennessee calling games on the field, Grizzard said it all felt right.
“We’ll see. I enjoyed it last week. I like the camaraderie with the staff and the players, and the communication level,” Grizzard said of calling plays on the field. “And then I just want to test it out in a good environment here [in Pittsburgh].”
Grizzard added that he still might call Week 3 of the preseason in a coaching box and quickly “figure it out,” as far as making a decision on the regular season.
Smart call by Grizzard to see how he feels about the sidelines with a loud crowd in a hostile environment. Most preseason venues are quiet, but it’s always intense in Pittsburgh.
