The Los Angeles Rams’ offense improved its quality in the 2025 NFL Offseason.
Bringing in wide receiver Davante Adams, drafting tight end Terrance Ferguson in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft and extending running back Kyren Williams for the future.
Los Angeles secured pieces to be contenders for the immediate future, with an undrafted free agent looking more likely to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.
Offensive lineman Willie Lampkin stood out in his preseason debut with the Rams against the Dallas Cowboys. In performance landed him in Pro Football Focus’ best rookies in preseason week 1, with the O-lineman being the third-best graded rookie with a grade of 94.1.
“The undrafted Senior Bowl standout finished right behind Huber in PFF overall grade (94.1), with an elite 92.2 PFF run-blocking grade of his own (third). Whereas Huber stood out as a zone blocker, Lampkin flashed in gap schemes, recording a 92.5 gap PFF run-blocking grade across 14 snaps,” Lauren Gray wrote for PFF.
“Lampkin recorded the fewest pass-blocking snaps among rookie guards (nine), but he didn’t allow any pressure and logged a 78.6 PFF pass-blocking grade.”
Undrafted, Lampkin played 3 seasons at Coastal Carolina before transferring to play his last two seasons with the University of North Carolina. In his time with UNC, Lampkin was a two-time All-ACC member.

Lampkin is an undersized player for the center position, with the former Tar Heel being listed at 5’11 and an arm reach of 31 1/2 inches. His features could be part of the reason why the O-lineman went undrafted.
The performances Willie Lampkin left on the practice and gameday field left offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur taking notice of the UDFA.
“He’s a big, sturdy dude,” the offensive coordinator said. “Whatever he was listed at and all that… sometimes, obviously, the attributes don’t get you drafted, if you will, but it doesn’t matter. You just got to land…”
“We liked what we’ve seen from him. I thought he had a really good game. I thought he got better as the game went on… but for him to keep stacking these days and being the best he can be through August, getting himself ready for whatever September has.”
Lampkin has earned praise from head coach Sean McVay, saying he thought the undrafted free agent did “a great job.”
Making The 53-man Roster

Willie Lampkin would enter the Rams center group as the third-stringer.
The Rams brought back center Coleman Shelton to a two-year, $12 million contract in the offseason after playing a season with the Chicago Bears. Second-year Beaux Limmer will fight for the starting spot after playing in 16 games as a rookie.
Shelton appears to have the lead in the race, as he has experience with McVay and his offense.
It is an uphill battle for Lampkin, but if he continues to put up performances leading up to the start of the regular season, he could find himself on the 53-man roster.
