Jack Grealish needs a change - he can become one of the best in the league at Everton

Former Blues goalkeeper Nigel Martyn thinks the loan move could be great for both parties

Nigel Martyn believes Jack Grealish could re-establish himself as one of the best players in the Premier League while at Everton.

The former Blues keeper believes the loan deal that brought the 29-year-old to Merseyside is a good one for both parties, with David Moyes in need of some attacking flair andthe player looking for a fresh start.

He added that he was particularly excited at the prospect of Grealish forming a partnership with Iliman Ndiaye.

Martyn, who was signed in Moyes’ first stint at Everton back in 2003, said: "I’m really looking forward to seeing Jack Grealish link up with Iliman Ndiaye. I think that those two can play some nice football together. It can be a threat down that left-hand side.”

Grealish became Everton’s sixth signing of the summer when his move was confirmed on Tuesday. Amongst his reasons for leaving Manchester City was a desire to seek first team football to revive his international career.

Martyn, himself a former England international, believes this could be a move that helps everyone. Speaking to Parimax, he said: "It's a good acquisition. I think Jack himself probably needs a change. You know, he obviously did so well at Aston Villa, got his move, and everything was great at the start but he's not played the amount of games he probably would have liked to in recent times.

"So, Jack needs this as much as Everton need the player. To become the top player that Jack Grealish can be and to perform every week, Jack needs this move for himself and, if all goes well, he’ll be able to re-establish himself as one of the top players in the league."
