Take Two Interactive just announced that, for the first time, MyTeam for 2K26 will feature both NBA and WNBA players, meaning users can build a roster using players from both leagues. Fans on X are reacting to the announcement exactly how you'd expect, unfortunately.
Gamers hate change and love being angry. The sky is blue. Grass is green. Water is wet. Moving on.
"It's like yall literally do this on purpose to piss us off i genuinely don't understand company's mindset nowadays," another commenter wrote.
"Can't wait to use 6'0 pg Caitlin in park against 6'10 pg Simmons," one fan commented.
"Unless there's wnba specific modes I can guarantee no one will use them small guards are bad as it is," a fan commented.
Shown by the positive reception under Bleacher Report's similar post, the news is super exciting to actual basketball fans. The crossover is set to bring not only a slew of new collectibles, from jerseys to arenas, to the mode, but the entire 144-player WNBA roster, plus retired legends, as well. One of the promotional images features Shaq and Angel Reese in a Chicago Sky jersey, meaning we're guaranteed to get customization items from the WNBA.
finally we get crossover buckets for real
Diana Taurasi dropping dimes to Steph finna go crazy
— Tea (@TeaTimeMeta) August 14, 2025
Anyone who's played MyTeam knows that at a certain point in the season, you end up with players who have ratings way outside of their normal abilities. I'll never forget my Galaxy Opal Steph Curry posterizing Rudy Gobert with a between-the-legs dunk in 2K24. I'm positive we'll be getting some crazy WNBA cards, especially for legends like Diana Taurasi and Pat Summitt.
The memes will be bountiful, especially if the team at Take Two does the ladies justice and gives them ratings high enough to keep up with the NBA players. I can't wait to see the clips of WNBA players dominating their NBA peers post-release.
