Everton are in advanced talks to sign Wolves goalkeeper Tom King.

David Moyes‘ side currently only have Jordan Pickford and Mark Travers as their senior options between the sticks.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium side feel like they need further depth in the position and could be set to make the 30-year-old King their seventh signing of the summer.

While they need superstar additions like Jack Grealish, further options within the squad are required in case of injury, suspension or loss of form.

Here, Goodison News profiles the one-time Welsh international stopper.

Where has King played before?

Everton have advanced negotiations for the veteran goalkeeper, but where has he played before?

King started his career with Manchester 62 in Gibraltar, the club named in honour of Manchester United as a part of their youth system.

He then moved to Portsmouth and spent time at Crystal Palace before moving to Millwall, where he was sent out on loan to Welling Town and Braintree Town.

He made his debut in the senior ranks for the Lions in an EFL Cup second-round clash with Sheffield United in 2016 and would ultimately make 19 appearances for them.

Loans to Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon followed before he completed a permanent move to Newport County in 2019.

He was nominated for the August League Two Player of the Month Award in September 2019, having kept five clean sheets and not conceding for more than 500 minutes in the division.

He scored the first goal of his career in January 2021 in a 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town, breaking former Everton star Asmir Begovic’s Guinness World record for the longest goal

King signed for Salford City in 2021 after the expiry of his deal with the Welsh side, making 64 appearances for the Manchester-based outfit.

He made eight appearances for Northampton after joining them in 2023, before moving to Wolves in the same year.

His Premier League debut was in a 1-1 draw with Brentford on the final day of last season, when he came on as a second-half substitute.

The perfect third-choice goalkeeper for Everton

King is the perfect third choice for the Blues, as he will not be expecting to play regularly, but he can be relied upon due to his vast experience in the English game.

He is a Welsh international, having made his debut in a friendly against Gibraltar, as a second-half substitute for Adam Davies in a 0-0 draw in June 2024.

If he ends up getting on the pitch, it will be the biggest opportunity of his career, but given the steps that he has already taken, he may well be ready for it.
