Real Madrid are not the only Spanish club to have made significant strides this summer transfer window in terms of new signings, for Atletico Madrid have been equally impressive with their recruitment.
Diego Simeone’s men are looking to build a project that can directly compete shoulder to shoulder with Barcelona and Real Madrid and have reinforced their squad across the park accordingly.
Now, MARCA relays that Los Rojiblancos are eyeing a new dribbling winger and that a former Real Madrid star has caught their eye.
What’s better is that Los Blancos hold a percentage of his rights and could get a windfall for the same.
As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Atletico Madrid see Takefusa Kubo to be a player who could tick the required boxes in their squad.

Gifted with potent dribbling, great pace and intricate ball control, he is a valuable winger who has his best years still ahead of him.
Currently contracted to Real Sociedad, the Japanese star has a release clause of €60 million in his contract, something Atletico Madrid must be prepared to shell out if they are to sign the player.
Real Madrid, however, retains 50% of the player’s rights and would thus receive a whopping €30 million if the deal indeed goes through at the aforementioned terms. Needless to say, that would be massive for their finances.
Initially a member of Barcelona’s famed La Masia, Kubo signed for Real Madrid in 2019 but soon left on loan to Mallorca.
He then played out stints on loan at Villarreal, Getafe and Mallorca again before permanently signing for Real Sociedad in 2022.
La Real, at the time, paid only €6.5 million for his services and even the €30 million they net from his sale would thus see a massive return on their investment.
