Manchester United player willing to accept half salary to secure transfer – Work started on deal

Last month, Juventus were pushing to sign Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho. The Bianconeri’s inability to make key sales has now handed AS Roma the chance to land the player.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports the 25-year-old has given his total approval to a Roma move.

The newspaper claims Roma sporting director Frederic Massara has been studying the possibility of a move for weeks and believes this is the right time to make an approach.

An initial bid worth €23m has been made and Manchester United have been offered an initial loan with the obligation to buy.

To sanction this deal, the Red Devils will have to extend Sancho’s contract for a season because Sancho’s current deal at Old Trafford expires in the summer of 2026.

The wide playmaker is said to have expressed a willingness to his intermediaries to halve his salary demands to help Roma sign him. This is why the Giallorossi are considering offering him a wage packet of €5m to €6m per season plus bonuses, figures likely to be after tax.

Further talks are yet to be held with Manchester United, but Roma are closing in on the sale of key midfielder Manu Kone and this can hand them over €40m.
