David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Nottingham Forest have reached a total agreement with Ipswich Town to sign Omari Hutchinson, formerly of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Forest will pay £37.5m, and Hutchinson will hold a medical today, with personal terms not expected to be an issue. The move will be Forest’s new club-record signing.

Chelsea are set to profit through a sell-on clause in the 21-year-old’s contract, but Arsenal’s financial interest in Hutchinson is already at an end. The Gunners already received a modest fee from Chelsea and then a bit extra through a sell-on clause when he joined Ipswich.

Hutchinson is yet to feature for Ipswich this season, missing their opening game through illness and then reportedly choosing not to play in their League Cup tie against Bromley.

The England u21 and Jamaica international scored three goals and assisted two in 32 games in Ipswich’s relegation campaign in 2024/25. But the talent is there, and Forest evidently feel they have a platform to help the player to show it.

For Hutchinson, this season will be a first opportunity to play in Europe, with Forest somewhat controversially qualifying for the Europa League over Crystal Palace. After a season of settling in as a Premier League player, he’ll want to push on now.
