Newcastle could make a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson to replace Alexander Isak, TBR Football understand.
Isak is currently frozen out at Newcastle having asked to leave the club. Liverpool saw a huge offer rejected and have walked away from a deal, with Newcastle boss Eddie Howe keeping Isak away from his first team squad until the situation is resolved.
Newcastle could add Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who is also unavailable for his club amid his own transfer uncertainty.

And should Isak leave, Newcastle are considering a transfer approach for Jackson – who is free to leave Chelsea.
Nicolas Jackson ‘wants to join Newcastle’ after Yoane Wissa
Brentford manager Keith Andrews has confirmed Yoane Wissa will not play for the Bees in the opening weekend of the new Premier League season as his future remains in the air.
That development, and Brentford’s move for Bournemouth forward Dango Outtara, has seen Newcastle accelerate their interest in Wissa, TBR Football understands.
Newcastle sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Wissa is seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, with Jackson a more likely Isak alternative.

He said: “As we know, Wissa is a Wilson replacement. But Jackson is still very high up in their thinking and Jackson is expected to leave Chelsea.
“I also think the fact that Nicolas Jackson has made it known, through the media, that he wants to join Newcastle is a big thing. Eddie Howe likes that in his players – we’ve seen it with Wissa, we saw it with Anthony Elanga – he likes players who want to come.”
Nicolas Jackson ‘the most likely’ striker to replace Alexander Isak
A transfer for Jackson isn’t guaranteed, sources have told TBR Football, but he fits the profile of the kind of striker Newcastle want to replace Isak.

Bailey said: “I still think there’s a very strong chance that Newcastle sign Jackson. It depends on the price. Newcastle are very precise about their valuations of players. In that regard, I still think Nicolas Jackson is the most likely.
“I think things will accelerate over the next week or so with Isak. But I do have that feeling about Nicolas Jackson – he reminds me of the time before Isak came to Newcastle, a very similar player. He’s got a Premier League background, ticks a lot of boxes for Howe.
“With Wissa, I think Newcastle will replace both Isak’s and Wilson’s goals combined – they could get more with Wissa and Jackson. I’d make Jackson the favourite at the minute.”
