Liverpool now ready to step up their efforts to sign trophy-winning Premier League ace – report

**Liverpool are reportedly planning to “accelerate” their efforts to sign a “composed” Premier League player in the summer transfer window.**

The Reds still have over two weeks to complete more summer business, having already spent big on the likes of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, among others.

Giovanni Leoni will sign from Parma, coming in as a hugely exciting prospect, while Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi continue to be linked with moves to Anfield, too.

Now, [_Caught Offside_](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/08/15/marc-guehi-transfer-liverpool-palace/) report that Liverpool are “very keen to accelerate” their efforts to sign Guehi before the window slams shut on September 1st.

That said, the Reds and Crystal Palace are struggling to agree on the 25-year-old’s valuation, with the Eagles wanting up to £50m for his services and the Premier League champions hoping for near £40m.

Guehi is in the final year of his current deal, so Palace know that they will be at serious risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of this season.

**Will Liverpool strike a deal for Guehi?**

-------------------------------------------

Guehi would be such an ideal signing for Liverpool alongside Leoni this summer, ensuring that they bring in an experienced and young centre-back option to bolster the depth in Arne Slot’s squad.

The Palace captain may be wary of moving to Anfield, due to it being the World Cup next year and wanting to play regularly, but the lure of joining this Reds side is surely great.

Guehi could fit seamlessly into Liverpool’s squad, battling Ibrahima Konate for a starting berth, having been praised by [Micah Richards](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c9992yv5prlo) at Euro 2024 last summer:

_“He was very calm and composed. It must be daunting to enter your first major tournament at times, but he did not show it at all.”_

Much like the Isak saga, it is easy to see it going either way with Guehi, with the Englishman potentially deciding that he is happy to see out his contract at Palace.

That said, he will know that chances to join a title-winning Liverpool team don’t come around too often, so if the two clubs can reach a compromise, he could be in a Reds shirt come next month.
