‘I think’: Wayne Rooney issues exciting Premier League prediction for Everton

With the Premier League season just three days away for Everton, Wayne Rooney isn’t holding back.

A tricky encounter against Leeds United awaits the Toffees at Elland Road, as the first Monday Night Football of the season is a showdown.

David Moyes beat Daniel Farke 4-0 in their only encounter, as the Scotsman might know how to get the best out of his side.

It will be an opportunity to see Everton’s new recruits in action, as Jack Grealish could make his debut against Leeds.

The aim is to get off to the perfect possible start as the Blues are aiming for a strong season, and Rooney has given his thoughts.

Wayne Rooney thinks Everton will be ‘pushing for a European spot’

It’s expected to be a season of change for the Toffees, and Moyes is the perfect man for the job to make it happen.

Pundits have produced some interesting shouts this season, with Peter Crouch not convinced by Everton as he believes another relegation battle could occur.

However, Rooney has gone to the other end of the spectrum, as he spoke on his new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show, and is expecting big things this season.

“I think Everton will do well. Moyesy is an experienced manager,” Rooney said.

“I think Everton will be pushing for a European spot this year.”

It’s some shout from the pundit who is hoping his boyhood club begins their new project with a bang, and it appears as though the players have that aspiration.

James Tarkowski has said he wants Everton to emulate Nottingham Forest

With their mixed opinions on how Moyes’ side will compete this season, the additions of Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are certainly a big help, with the Toffees still having room to explore in the market.

Moyes demanded nine players, so it appears three more could enter the frame before the deadline on Monday, September 1.

With Rooney’s prediction, three more faces could make the squad look ready for the challenge, as even the players are aiming big.

Speaking back in May, James Tarkowski wanted Everton to emulate Nottingham Forest, in terms of going from a relegation-threatened team to fighting for a European place.

The aim has been set, and if Moyes manages to produce yet another masterclass on Merseyside, Rooney will be hailed as a genius.
