Everton head to Elland Road on Monday night for a Premier League opener against Leeds United.
Leeds United have a tough opening game of the Premier League season on Monday, welcoming Everton to West Yorkshire. And it will be made more difficult by the fact that Everton have just signed Jack Grealish on loan from Man City.
It’s a statement signing from David Moyes‘ side who have put together a relatively strong summer transfer window so far. Likewise have Leeds United who have signed seven new players this summer.
Fans are particularly excited to see the likes of Anton Stach in action following his £20m move from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. But there remains work for Daniel Farke to do. He’s bolstered pretty much every position so far other than the main ones in attack.
It’s understood that Leeds United want three more signings before the September 1st deadline, with Farke eyeing a new number 10, a new winger and a new striker. But so far he’s suffered setbacks in signing players in each of those positions.

Rumoured Beto unrest at Everton ahead of Leeds United opener
In particular, the race to sign a new striker has been somewhat hit and miss. Though Leeds United have just agreed a deal to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The 28-year-old was released by Everton at the end of last season and has been linked with a move to West Yorkshire throughout the summer. Then, reports earlier this week revealed that Calvert-Lewin had agreed a move to Elland Road.
Another name who was linked earlier in the summer was Beto at Everton. The Portuguese striker became an unlikely target for Farke, though the link quickly died down. However, it was reignited this week amid rumours of a feud between Beto and Moyes at Goodison Park.
However, BBC journalist Giulia Bould has revealed on X that rumours of Beto being allowed to leave Everton are untrue. Likewise, are claims that Beto has fallen out of favour with manager Moyes. Bould adds that Beto is not for sale and he is also very much part of Moyes’ plans going into the new season.

I'm told suggestions Beto is welcome to leave Everton is intrue. As is claims of any kind of issue with the manager.
The club's stance is the striker is not for sale and Beto is very much part of the David Moyes' plans this season.

The latest on Leeds United’s striker search
When Calvert-Lewin looks set to sign for Leeds United remains unclear. We don’t yet have an official announcement, but it seems as though a move is imminent. And whilst many may be divided by the signing, there’s no doubting that, when fit, Calvert-Lewin is a solid Premier League striker. But it remains highly likely that Farke signs another more marquee striker this summer, with reports consistently stating that Rodrigo Muniz is Leeds United’s number one striker target.
However, a deal for Muniz is looking more and more unlikely as time goes by. Serie A side Atalanta are growing in confidence of a deal for Muniz this summer, and there have also been reports that Muniz would prefer a move to Serie A over a move to another Premier League club from Everton. That could force Farke to turn elsewhere in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
Other names linked with a move to Leeds United include Artem Dovbyk at Roma. Everton have also been linked with Dovbyk, though the Toffees’ interest was late to play down. It is understood that the likes of Leeds, West Ham and Sunderland have all inquired about Dovbyk, who has a £26m price tag at Roma.
Right now, though, Dovbyk doesn’t seem to be close to a move to the Premier League. Other striker links remain quite few and far between for Leeds United. Farke may purely be focused on the Everton opener and on getting the Calvert-Lewin deal over the line before looking at another striker.
