On Thursday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund will soon speak to AC Milan about their project and this could also involve a conversation with new manager Max Allegri.
The striker is now warming to the idea of joining the Rossoneri, after initially having doubts about a transfer.
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports both Milan and Manchester United are working to quickly finalise the Dane’s exit from Old Trafford.
There is an agreement over the formula of the transfer but the clubs are now negotiating the exact finances.
Manchester United wanted a package worth €50m, including loan fee and the option to buy. The Rossoneri are stuck at €40m but there is an awareness that both clubs have to make some concessions to find the middle ground.
That is why there is a belief that an agreement can be reached for around €45m. That would be a €5m loan fee, with an option to buy set at ‘just under’ €40m.
In the meantime, Milan have guaranteed 22-year-old Højlund that they will be able to cover his current salary of just less than €4m.
The striker is more concerned about assurances that he will join them permanently but this is unlikely to be a major concern.
Optimism is rising about the transfer and next week will be key.
