Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is in talks with Bayern Munich over a potential transfer to the club.
Bayern are targeting a deal for Nkunku after agreeing the sale of Kingsley Coman to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. The German champions have been frustrated in a pursuit of Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade and are now turning their attention to Nkunku.
The Frenchman is viewed as a versatile option to boost the club’s forward line, while his availability and prior experience of the Bundesliga appeal.
Nkunku scored 70 goals in 172 games for RB Leipzig before his £52m move to Chelsea in 2023. He has struggled with fitness and favour issues at Stamford Bridge and is set to leave the club this summer.
The forward scored 15 goals in 48 games last season but saw his minutes largely restricted to the Europa Conference League. Chelsea have since signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap to boost their attacking options.
Leipzig enquired about re-signing Nkunku, though the German side preferred a loan deal. Both Nkunku and Chelsea want to sanction a permanent exit and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that initial talks with Bayern have taken place.

Bayern are desperate to add to their depleted attacking options. In addition to Coman’s imminent exit, Thomas Muller, Mathys Tel and Leroy Sane have all left the Allianz Arena this summer. Jamal Musiala is also facing months out with a horror injury sustained during the Club World Cup.
