Italian side Sampdoria have faced repeated seasons of financial struggle. Not too long ago, they were on the verge of relegation to Serie C and things don’t look like impriving much soon.
However, they are now set for a monetary boost, thanks to Liverpool.
This is because the Reds are about to sign Parma’s Giovanni Leoni on a permanent deal.
The defender was with with Sampdoria until 2024, and joined the Crociati last summer for around €4m.
While Parma are getting a major profit from Leoni’s transfer to Liverpool, Secolo XIX note how the move will help Samp. The newspaper, as relayed by PianetaSerieB, reports the Serie B side are set to get a percentage of the 18-year-old’s transfer to Liverpool.
As a result, they are expected to earn €2.5m from the total €35m that Liverpool pay to sign the youngster.
This comes as an unexpected bonus for Sampdoria, who are still struggling financially and the lack of funds is holding them back from making new signings this summer.
Parma are also pocketing a major capital profit, as they can stand to earn over €25m after amortisation.
