Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has provided an update on whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin will face Everton in their Premier League opener.
Daniel Farke has overseen a packed transfer window at Elland Road, with seven new arrivals confirmed by the club to date.
However, Leeds remain active in the window and are in advanced negotiations over a deal for James Justin to provide competition in defence.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also been linked with a move to the Whites in recent days, and Farke has now confirmed that he will join the club for the new Premier League season.
Providing that Leeds completed his registration in time, he could be in line to face his former club, Everton.

Daniel Farke confirms deal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Leeds’ opening game against Everton, Farke confirmed that Calvert-Lewin will be a Leeds player this season.
Whilst it has not been formally announced by the club, Farke stated that Calvert-Lewin will “wear a Leeds shirt” this season.
Farke said: “We have not officially announced it, but we are more or less underway right now, and it happens just in this minute. He will support us and will be a member of our squad this afternoon, and of course, we are all pretty happy and delighted that Dominic will wear a Leeds shirt from now on.”

Commenting on Calvert-Lewin’s physical condition, Farke added: “His last few seasons were a bit interrupted by injury, but he still managed to play 26 games last season.
“[This is] a chance for him to revive his career and reach former heights when he was outstanding at Premier League level.
“The key for him is not to be over-motivated. We will build his fitness step by step so he can find confidence in his body and rhythm. If we do so, he has shown what he can do. He can be outstanding for us.”

When does Dominic Calvert-Lewin need to be registered by to face Everton?
Whilst Farke stopped short of naming his team in today’s press conference, the fact that he has confirmed Calvert-Lewin will be a Leeds player suggests that he could be in contention to face his former club.
According to rule U. 23 of the Premier League handbook, Leeds would need to have completed Calvert-Lewin’s registration by noon today (15th August) for him to be eligible to face the Toffees.
The rule states: “The deadline for receipt by the Board of all duly completed documents required by these Rules to effect the registration of a Player shall be 12 noon on the last working Day before the date of the first League match in which the club making the application intends him to play.”
As a result, as long as Leeds have lodged the correct documentation with the governing body, the England international should be able to take his place against his former club.
