"We will see"- Amorim delivers Hojlund verdict amid transfer speculation

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that Rasmus Hojlund is an option for Sunday's Premier League game against Arsenal amid the speculation surrounding his future.

Hojlund was an unused substitute in Man United's final pre-season friendly of the summer against Fiorentina last weekend, with the Denmark international expected to leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

The 22-year-old is keen to stay at the club and fight for his spot, but the Red Devils are seemingly attempting to move him on following the addition of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Sesko is in line to lead the attack against Arsenal on Sunday, but Amorim has said that Hojlund is "one more option".

"He's one more option. We will see. We are focused on this game and Rasmus is still our player," said Amorim when asked about the Dane during his press conference on Friday afternoon.

AC Milan are believed to be at the head of the queue for the forward, but it is understood that Fulham have also expressed an interest in signing him before the end of the transfer window.

Hojlund moved to Man United from Atalanta BC in the summer of 2023.

The forward had an encouraging first season at Old Trafford, scoring 16 times in all competitions, but he struggled to make his mark last term and only managed four Premier League goals.

Sesko has been signed as Man United's new starting striker, while Joshua Zirkzee and Chido Obi are also options in that area of the field, with Hojlund expected to leave before the market closes.

Amorim could unleash new front three against Arsenal

Amorim could name an all-new front three against Arsenal, with Sesko potentially being joined in the final third of the field by fellow new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

However, the Man United head coach has insisted that he has more options in the forward areas.

"First of all, we have more than three [Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko], so they are fighting for their places, but I'm really happy. I think he [Sesko] has great potential. In everything he does, he can play different types of football, he will feel the Premier League is very aggressive, he is going to learn and he has great potential," said Amorim.

Man United will be missing two players through injury against Arsenal, with Noussair Mazraoui still missing due to issue that he sustained in the team's opening match of pre-season against Leeds United.

Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez is not yet ready to return from the knee injury that he suffered in February, although the Argentina international has taken huge steps forward in terms of his recovery.
