England international pens three-year deal at Leeds United – move is official

Leeds United ended last season with Joel Piroe playing almost every game as they won the Championship. Heading into this summer, it was obvious that the Whites needed some reinforcements in the position.

Lukas Nmecha was the first arrival, the German forward joined from Wolfsburg on a free transfer. But fans were very concerned, as the club focused on defenders and midfielders for the next month. It was just a few weeks ago that Daniel Farke urged the club to bring in quality up front, and he got his wish.

It has been confirmed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has signed a three-year deal at Elland Road. The striker was a free agent this summer after leaving Everton. He was sought after by many Premier League clubs including Manchester United.

Calvert-Lewin immediately becomes the most experienced top flight striker at the club, with 57 Premier League goals. He becomes the eighth signing this summer for Leeds United.

What Daniel Farke has said about this signing

Farke has been upbeat about bringing in a ”proven Premier League player”. He has been adamant about adding quality to the attack this summer, and has finally gotten his wish. When speaking about the signing in Friday’s press conference, he said Calvert-Lewin has everything the club needs:

”Dominic is a proven Premier League player. Its important for all new signings, we want to sign players who have delivered on a top level, but they are also in a good age, on their way up the hill, not the way down. These boxes are all ticked by Dominic. He’s in a really good age, proven at Premier League level with more than 200 games and 60 goals.”
