Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund in the spotlight as Manchester United continue to weigh transfer options

Both Jadon Sancho and Rasmus Hojlund are attracting interesting from Italian clubs – AS Roma and AC MIlan respectively. Hojlund, however, also faces the possibility of joining Fulham.

Manchester United aren’t done with the transfer window yet despite the fact that the 2025-26 season of the Premier League is set to get underway a day from now.

The Red Devils have had quite the busy summer so far, signing the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Diego Leon. United boss Ruben Amorim thus has opted for a complete overhaul of his attack after a disastrous 2024-25 season in which the 20-time top-flight champions had finished 15th on the table.

Sancho off to Italy?

Which is where the spotlight falls on English winger Jadon Sancho, who could be joining the likes of Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof in bidding Old Trafford goodbye, or join another club on a loan deal like forward Marcus Rashford, who currently plays for Barcelona.

According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sancho has attracted AS Roma’s interest with a little over two weeks left in the transfer window, with the Italian club having offered £20 million for the 25-year-old’s services.

Roma, the team that had finished fifth in the previous season of Serie A, are also open to a loan move for Sancho, who has had loan spells with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund recently. However, given how United have their sights set on an overhaul, they will be keen on offloading the player whom they had signed in 2021 for good.

Besides Sancho, Roma have also expressed interest in signing Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey.

Fulham joins Milan in race to sign Hojlund

It’s not just Sancho, however, who has been attracting the interest of an Italian top-division club. Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, who finds himself facing a long spell on the sidelines at United this season, has AC Milan’s attention at the moment with the 19-time Italian champions offering a £4.5 million loan fee with an option to buy for £39 million.

However, a report on Daily Mail states that Premier League club Fulham are showing “tentative interest” in the 22-year-old, who had joined United on a £72 million deal in 2023, especially with Brazilian forward Rodrigo Muniz weighing a move to Hojlund’s former club Atalanta.

Hojlund, however, has reportedly given an indication that he might stay put at United and fight Slovenian striker Sesko, who joined on a £73.7 million deal from RB Leipzig, for a place in the team.

United, who are set to miss European football this season after their runner-up finish in the UEFA Europa League earlier this summer, face Arsenal at home in their season-opener on Sunday.
