Manchester United face fresh concerns over Jadon Sancho, while AS Roma are optimistic about securing his services in a deal worth £20 million.
Jadon Sancho’s future has been a big talking point since the start of the summer. The former Borussia Dortmund star is not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans moving ahead, and people at the club have been working hard to get him off their books.
However, according to Graeme Bailey via TBR Football, the English international’s demands are making things difficult for the Red Devils. A potential move to Chelsea and Napoli has already fallen through in the ongoing transfer window, and Manchester United are hoping they can find a buyer before the transfer deadline.
Sancho’s future remains up in the air
Jadon Sancho was on loan at Chelsea in the 2024/25 season, and he did put in some impressive performances. While reports earlier suggested the Blues would sign him permanently, they decided against it. Napoli were also interested in his signature, as they wanted more quality on the flanks, but the finances involved were beyond their reach.
The 25-year-old earns close to £300,000 per week at Old Trafford, and with a year still left on his deal, he is not going to settle for a massive pay cut. The Englishman is sitting tight and waiting for the right offer. Sancho has informed Manchester United that he has no desire to lose money on any potential move.
Manchester United are open to a temporary departure, but they want his wages covered in full and would love a loan fee on top. However, that certainly looks very difficult. AS Roma have emerged as a potential destination for Jadon Sancho, and it will be interesting to see if they can meet the financial demands of Manchester United, as well as the player.
While speaking to TBR about Sancho’s future, Bailey said, “Roma have made loan approaches for Sancho, and talks are proceeding. I am told Sancho won’t play for United again, but he has warned the Red Devils that he won’t be losing money on the deal.
“United believe they have more than played their part in trying to finalise a deal, but Sancho does not agree. Roma have come in now, but Borussia Dortmund and Juventus remain keen. It will be down to the player. United is open to Roma talks, but they also know the decision is down to Sancho – if he does not agree to the terms, then nothing will happen. United remain hugely worried by Sancho, but they remain hopeful he will be gone by the end of the month.”
While Jadon Sancho is unwilling to take a pay cut, Manchester United have done everything in their power to find him a new club. They are concerned by the player’s demands but remain hopeful of getting him off their books.
AS Roma are confident about signing Jadon Sancho
Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are still interested in his signature, while Fabrizio Romano has suggested that AS Roma are confident of securing his services. The Giallorossi are optimistic about getting the green light from Manchester United.
The Serie A giants have already submitted a loan offer with an obligation to buy worth £20 million. It is believed to be the best proposal received by Manchester United so far. While it should be good enough to strike a deal with Amorim’s team, reaching an agreement with Sancho won’t be that straightforward.
The AS Roma officials are in talks with the English winger’s camp regarding his wages, and it will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few days.
