Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford is facing the nightmare prospect of being unable to play for Barcelona this weekend as the La Liga club have still yet to register the forward.
Currently, La Liga have put sanctions on Barca due to overspending their salary limit. On Wednesday, the club announced they had been given permission to register Joan Garcia after his fellow goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is injured.
However, Rashford, Wojciech Szczesny and Gerard Martin have yet to be registered for their season opener against Mallorca tomorrow evening. According to The Athletic, Barca's board of directors have put their own personal worth at risk to secure a £6m bank guarantee.
It is not known whether this emergency action will be enough to ensure that Rashford and his teammates will be registered to play. It is believed that Barcelona are confident they will manage to get all their new signings registered before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.
If, for whatever reason, they miss this deadline, the players in question will be forced to sit out of the action until the beginning of the January transfer window where the Catalan club can try again to register them. Rashford will have been hoping to hit the ground running at Barca after joining them on a season-long loan from the Reds.

The England international has remained relaxed about the situation when questioned about it. Speaking before flying off for the pre-season tour of Asia, the winger said: "I’m calm; I trust that the club will sort it out.
"I’m just concentrating on training and getting in good shape to start the competition." The concern for Rashford is that Nico Williams, who was targeted before him, refused to join Barca because they could not offer him guarantees that he would be registered.
Williams is believed to have wanted a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for free if he was not registered and the La Liga giants refused. It remains to be seen if Rashford's faith in Barcelona is well-placed.
