For the second year in a row, the Milwaukee Bucks did not get a Christmas Day game, nor were they featured on the league’s season opener slate. To make matters worse, they won’t even be home for the holidays. Always vocal on social media, forward Bobby Portis is none too happy with NBA schedulers.
Will Bucks be home for Christmas? Don’t count on it
The league released season schedules en masse Thursday afternoon, after leaking various prime-time dates like opening night, Christmas, and MLK Day. Incidentally, the Bucks are featured on the latter. That’s not going to make the earlier holiday slights any easier to stomach.
Just checked the schedule. Boys not home for thanksgiving or Christmas? Nasty work.

It’s true. The Bucks will be on the road for both holidays. Sandwiched around Thanksgiving are games in Miami (Wednesday, November 26) and New York (Friday, Nov. 28).
Before and after Christmas, they travel to Indiana (December 23) and Memphis (Dec. 26), amidst a five-game road trip. Not ideal. Christmas Eve, at least, looks free. Ish.

It would be one thing if the Bucks were playing on Christmas itself, an honor Milwaukee enjoyed six seasons running before the NBA took them off the nice list. If they played on Dec. 24 or 26, but cozy in their own home at the Fiserv Forum, okay then, cool.
Unfortunately, someone had to find coal in their stockings, whether the Bucks or another team. It does seem as though the NBA was especially generous with the fossilized carbon in Milwaukee this season.

Commenters were quick to back Portis up. More than few conspiracy theories, regarding a potential agenda to steer Giannis Antetokounmpo elsewhere, were floated.
The Bucks did check in No. 13 in nationally televised games, with 18 total. Is that fair? Probably, considering that, with Damian Lillard gone, Giannis is the only marquee player on the roster. It’s also nine fewer than last season.

The team does at least get to tip off the year at home, as they host the Wizards in a Khris Middleton reunion matchup on October 22, at 7:00 PM CT.
