Eagles Star Takes Key Step in Injury Comeback

Recently, the Philadelphia Eagles suffered one of their most notable injury setbacks of the offseason. Landon Dickerson, the starting offensive lineman, went down with a knee injury.

As the Eagles participated in an open practice last week, Dickerson went down for a bit, which silenced the excited crowd. While Dickerson was able to get up and walk off the field, he couldn't do it without assistance.

After making his way back to the sideline, Dickerson was carted back to the locker room. The sight of the cart made it seem as if the injury was potentially season-ending. However, there is a lot of optimism coming from the Eagles' organization regarding Dickerson's recent ailment.

The Latest on Dickerson

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Dickerson underwent surgery.

Knee surgeries typically take players out of the mix for months-if not the entire season-but in Dickerson's case, he seemingly had a minor procedure done.

The Eagles have yet to reveal an official diagnosis outside of a "meniscus injury."

Many reports have suggested the Eagles are optimistic Dickerson could potentially be ready for the first week of the season against the Dallas Cowboys. They have roughly three weeks to figure it out.

Coming out of Alabama in 2021, Dickerson was picked up in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Eagles. His injury concerns in college were a question mark while entering the pros, but he's managed to stay healthy enough to become one of the Eagles' top players on the offensive end of the ball.

Dickerson became a full-time starter for the Eagles rather quickly. In 2022, he notched his first Pro Bowl honor, thriving with the Eagles' NFC Championship-winning team. Since that season, Dickerson has been a Pro Bowl regular, earning two more nods. He was a starting blocker on the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX squad.

The Eagles are going to rush Dickerson back in the mix, as long-term health will be a priority for the 26-year-old. Still, there's hope he could be back a lot earlier than initially expected.
