Fitness update on Trossard, Gyokeres and Zubimendi

Mikel Arteta has shared the latest team news ahead of our Premier League opener away to Manchester United on Sunday.

Our manager was back in front of the media for his first pre-match press conference of the season at the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday.

He was initially asked about Leandro Trossard’s availability, after our Belgian winger missed out on our pre-season games at Emirates Stadium.

“I think he's much better,” Arteta explained. “I think he will be able to train again tomorrow and if that's the case, he will be fit.”

Journalists also wanted to know if summer signings Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi are ready to start their first Premier League matches this weekend.

“[Viktor’s] getting better and better every day,” Arteta said. “He's normally a really fit player. It's true that he hasn't trained so much with us. He had those two moments in games when he's participated and the feeling was very good. So let's see what we do on Sunday.

“[On Zubi], he had a great integration. As everybody can see this immediately, a very big impact on the team. I'm really happy and he will be fit.”
