'I'm concerned': Pep Guardiola says 'extraordinary' Man City player will now be 'out for a few…

Manchester City are currently preparing for their opening Premier League game against Wolves on Saturday.

The summer has been an unusual one for the Manchester club due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, but the general vibe around the Etihad Stadium has been a positive one ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

This has been mostly down to the new faces at the Manchester club, with Pepijn Lijnders and James French being added to Guardiola’s coaching staff, while six new stars arrived in the legendary coach’s squad.

Tottenham’s interest in Savinho has caused Man City a bit of a headache ahead of the new season, and when asked about the Brazilian during his press conference on Friday, Guardiola’s answer said everything fans needed to know.

Savinho to miss Man City’s clash with Wolves

It was reported on Thursday that Tottenham have had a second bid rejected by Man City for Savinho; however, the North London club plan to return with another offer.

As a result, Guardiola was bound to be asked about the Brazilian during his pre-Wolves press conference, and the Spaniard revealed that the winger will miss City’s trip to Molineux.

“Savinho is injured from Palermo. He will be out for a few weeks,” Guardiola said.

Before commenting on the Man City star’s future, stating: “I don’t know. If Tottenham, or any other club, wants a player, you should call the club, right? It’s the same like we do! The only thing I’m concerned about today is that Savinho will be with us until all the season, and hopefully for many, many years.

“Because at 21 years old with the potential he has, playing a lot of minutes, he has to improve in final decisions, he’s an extraordinary player.

“But at the end, as always, the desire of the player prevails above everything, and after there has to be an agreement with the club. If you don’t take an agreement, the player will be here.”

Savinho is said to be keen on a move to Tottenham as the winger will be a regular starter at Spurs, which the 21-year-old believes is key to making the Brazil squad next summer for the FIFA World Cup.

Therefore, Guardiola’s words say it all about Savinho’s future at Man City, as it looks like the winger will be leaving the Etihad Stadium.

Ederson is also injured

In addition to Savinho, there has also been speculation over the future of Ederson this week as Galatasaray continue to push for the Man City goalkeeper.

Guardiola was also asked about the Brazilian, and after confirming that the 31-year-old is also injured, the City boss said: “Ederson didn’t come to me and say, ‘I want to leave’, or ‘I have an offer’. All the players are here and are our players, and I work with them… What’s going to happen, nobody knows.”

This also did nothing to quash the talk around Ederson’s future, as it sounds like the goalkeeper will be joining Savinho in leaving the Manchester club.

There is still a way to go before the summer transfer window closes, and City will want both players sold as soon as possible if they wish to leave, as it will give them more time to bring in replacements.
