The Green Bay Packers will need all hands on deck this season as the NFC North, which sent three teams to the playoffs last year, figures to be even better this season. Unfortunately, Green Bay is missing critical reps for its franchise quarterback, Jordan Love, as he recovers from a procedure done on his left thumb.
Shockingly, Love is now revealing that he could have played through the injury.
“That was part of the debate, whether to get surgery or whether you don’t get surgery,” Love said Thursday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “If this were in the middle of the season, it would probably be something we wouldn’t get the surgery on.
“But with it still being early, I’m having time to recover, be fully ready for Week 1, the recommendation was to get the surgery.”
Fans reacted to the revelation on social media.
“The big problem with waiting until after the season is being able to use your detached ligament. After about a month, you need to graft a new one. The difference in rehab is huge. Took me a full 5 months to get near normal range of motion when I had a new one grafted on,” one fan revealed on Twitter.
“Glass jaw body? This is his make or break year. Gutey is gone if the Pack has an average season,” someone else added.
“He better be ready for more preseason work because he needs it,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Love looks when he returns to the field.
