Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer has officially joined West Brom on a season-long loan.

The Manchester Evening News reported on Thursday that West Brom had won the race to secure Collyer on loan, beating over a dozen teams in the Championship to his signature.

West Brom are hopeful of returning to the Premier League after a five-year hiatus from the top flight.

Collyer said: “I spoke with the gaffer Ryan Mason and I got a really good first impression from him. Albion seems like the right place and the right environment for me and I’m hoping to play as much as possible.

“This is a great opportunity for me to help the team and take my game to the next level, which I’m really excited about.”

West Brom's sporting director, Andrew Nestor, said: "Toby is a dynamic midfielder who we rate highly and believe that his strengths will complement our already strong midfield options.

"He is an ideal central midfielder for our playing model with his physical attributes, progressive play and passing ability, and has the capability to make a real impression this season."

Last summer, a source discussed Erik ten Hag's fondness for Collyer and another source said he records 'freakish' running stats in training that are only bettered by Bruno Fernandes.

Ruben Amorim has also praised Collyer. "He has very good legs, he's improving with the ball. He knows what he needs to do to play for this club and feels the club in the right way. He's really humble and when you work hard, you get the opportunity," said Amorim in January.

Collyer's contract at United runs until the summer of 2027, with the option of another year.
