West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez will leave the London Stadium before the end of the transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his X account, Romano said “talks” are expected to take place, with “several clubs” interested in securing the Mexican international’s services.
Head coach Graham Potter is keen to revamp his midfield, and Alvarez is set to be offloaded, along with two other players.

Guido Rodriguez has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, while Andy Irving could also depart, with Celtic said to be his main suitor.
Who is interested in signing Alvarez?
Reports in the Netherlands suggest that the 27-year-old’s old club Ajax are keen on re-signing the player. That move seems to be a non-starter, though, with the Eredivisie side hoping to snap him up on loan, despite having sold him to the Irons for £35m two years ago.
Bayer Leverkusen have also been suggested as a potential option. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag worked with Alvarez at Ajax, and he is now coaching in Germany, so that could be one to keep a close eye on.
Who are West Ham targeting as possible replacements?
Moves for the likes of Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes have gone nowhere, mainly due to the costs involved.
Alternatives include a current Leverkusen player, Aleix Garcia, while reports in Italy suggest that former Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini is also on the club’s radar.
With so many midfielders nearing the exit door, fans will be hoping that replacements will be brought in before the transfer window shuts. At the moment, it seems that there could be a late scramble to strengthen Potter’s squad.
