Arsenal reach overall transfer agreement–Arteta doesn’t see place for player

Arsenal have reached an overall transfer agreement with Fenerbahçe regarding Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

That’s according to Sporx, who report that Fenerbahçe are about to make one of the most notable moves of the Turkish summer transfer window.

They report that the 28-year-old Arsenal defender is one of Jose Mourinho’s top targets and was approached by Fenerbahçe’s sporting director Devin Özek, who personally travelled to London to speak to Arsenal director of football Andrea Berta about the Ukrainian.

The Turkish club made an initial €10m offer and negotiations have advanced to the point that they now have an agreement with Arsenal on the details of the deal.

There has been a last-minute issue for Fenerbahçe, though, as Portuguese giants Porto were said to have entered the picture and contacted both Arsenal and Zinchenko.

Zinchenko is not a part of Arteta’s plans moving forwards, and this has been made clear to him. He’s now preparing to make a decision about his future soon.

One alternative option is for him to finish the season at Arsenal and wait for his contract to expire and choose a new club as a free agent next summer. Fenerbahçe want him before then, though, and now have a general agreement in place. The decision is on the Ukrainian.
