‘I don’t care’ - Amorim responds to question about Manchester United ahead of Arsenal clash

Ruben Amorim must immediately hit the ground running in the Premier League this season at Manchester United.

The Portuguese manager oversaw a 15th-placed finish for Manchester United last season after succeeding Erik ten Hag in October, marking the club’s lowest-ever Premier League finish.

Admittedly, Amorim had to deal with a lot of change behind the scenes at Old Trafford as Sir Jim Ratcliffe often stole the headlines with his ruthless decision-making.

Optimism is slowly returning among the United faithful – Benjamin Sesko’s £74 million acquisition from RB Leipzig completes a new-look front line as the Slovenian international will play alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

However, now is the time for all the talk to stop, as the Red Devils will begin their 2025/26 Premier League campaign when they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim does not “care” about questions on Manchester United future

During his pre-match press conference, Amorim emphasised that he is not thinking long-term at Old Trafford and will simply prepare for each match as it comes.

“I learned a lot last season. I don’t need to focus on the future. That doesn’t matter, and I don’t care. I need to live day by day. Everything that is noise to our team, I take out of the picture, so I just prepare my team against Arsenal.”

Amorim expressed a desire for a long-term future at Old Trafford last season, claiming he would like to remain in charge of Manchester United for the next 20 years.

While it is undetermined whether Amorim has changed his long-term plans, a lack of European football this season gives the boss a week to prepare for each fixture, unlike their rivals, something Wayne Rooney believes will secure Champions League football again for the club.

Meanwhile, Amorim was bullish when asked what he expects to achieve at Old Trafford this season, but reiterated to the supporters that the squad is working tirelessly to avoid a repeat of last season.

“It’s hard to know. We cannot change everything in four weeks, but we are better. We are training harder and are more prepared to cope with the demands of the game. I’m really more confident, that is clear. Step by step, we will be a better team.”

Manchester United want to sign two more players

Although Manchester United have acted tentatively in the transfer market thus far, Jason Wilcox is facing a busy final few weeks leading up to the deadline.

According to widespread reports, United will rival Manchester City for Gianluigi Donnarumma as they aim to upgrade on current number one goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Onana has produced a catalogue of errors throughout his Red Devils career, and he could find himself benched this season in favour of the Champions League-winning Donnarumma.

Furthermore, TBR Football exclusively reported that Carlos Baleba is a priority target for the Red Devils, although Brighton & Hove Albion have proven tough negotiators and are eager to hold onto the midfielder.

It will be an interesting end to the summer transfer window for Manchester United supporters, but above all else, Amorim must prove he is the right man to lead the side forward this season and beyond.
