David Moyes took part in his first press conference of the Premier League season as Everton prepares to travel to Leeds United on Monday.

It has been a difficult summer for the Scotsman, with Everton failing to impress in pre-season.

However, recent weeks have looked up, with the Toffees confirming a succession of signings ready for the new campaign.

Jack Grealish to Everton is no doubt the marquee addition. Yet, despite all this positivity, Moyes still unleashed his fury in the presser.

Moyes unimpressed over Branthewaite injury leak

Going into the Leeds match, Everton are set to be without Branthwaite, who has suffered a hamstring injury.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

This is no doubt a massive blow for the Toffees in what is already going to be a tough match against a newly promoted side.

As a result, in Moyes’ press conference on 15 August ahead of Leeds versus Everton, the Scotman was asked to provide an update on how long the centre-back would be out for.

Branthwaite also picked up a knock at the start of the 2024/25 campaign

Here, the manager took the opportunity to comment on a leak at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after the injury news about Branthwaite became public knowledge.

He said: “I wouldn’t give that information away anyway, but I am sure that the insider at the club will give it out.

“We have got to find out who it is, who is giving the news out.

“I am unhappy with it; all managers don’t like it. It is certainly coming from within our building, and it is up to us to put a stop to it, and we will do.”

Can Everton survive without Branthwaite vs Leeds

Without Branthwaite, it is certainly going to be a struggle for Everton to pick up three points at a noisy Elland Road.

In the eight Premier League matches the centre-back did not play in last season, the Toffees only won two.

Everton’s Premier League record without Branthwaite in 2024/25

Wins 2

Draws 2

Losses 4

Goals conceded 14

Clean sheets 3

Everton have struggled without Branthwaite in the past

During these matches, only 14 goals were conceded, while three clean sheets were also kept.

The positive for the Toffees will be that many of these matches came under Sean Dyche, with only one occurring under Moyes’ stewardship, which was Everton’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle.
