NFL is reviewing WR Isaiah Bond’s dropped sexual assault case; Browns plan to sign him soon

PHILADELPHIA — The Browns are expected to sign former Texas receiver Isaiah Bond soon, but he faces possible discipline by the NFL for his sexual assault case despite the fact it was dropped on Thursday.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told cleveland.com in an email response that the league “is reviewing the matter.”

Bond, 21, is subject to the terms of the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy as a rookie who attended the NFL Scouting Combine and made himself available for employment in the NFL. Bond went undrafted in 2025 after he was arrested two weeks beforehand, and never signed with a team as an undrafted free agent.

The Browns, who spent a lot of time scouting Bond in the pre-draft process and brought him into CrossCountry Mortgage Campus for a top 30 visit, have kept tabs on him throughout the legal process, and are putting the finishing touches on their due diligence. If all goes as planned, they’ll sign him soon.

When his charges were no-billed by a grand jury on Thursday in Texas’ Collins County, meaning he won’t be indicted, Bond became free to sign with any NFL team, and the Browns seized the opportunity.

Bond announced in a statement on X on Thursday that he was signing with the Browns, even though the deal hadn’t yet been finalized. It’s expected to happen over the next couple of days after they tie up some loose ends.

The Browns are here preparing for the second preseason game against the Eagles on Saturday afternoon and will return home after the game. The players don’t practice on Sunday or Monday, but resume camp on Tuesday. A speedster who was projected to go in the third round, Bond could potentially be on the field with them that day as they begin preparations for the third and final preseason game Saturday against the Rams, the “dress rehearsal” game for the season.
