Bulls predicted to sign-and-trade Josh Giddey to Eastern Conference rival

The Chicago Bulls have spent much of their recent history in mediocrity, and this summer is another example of why.

The Bulls have struggled to find any consistent success over the past few years. Despite some big swings for stars such as DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, climbing the standings in the East has been too tough of a task for a perennial play-in squad.

So, this summer, the Bulls had a chance to shake things up, but they’ve mostly played it safe after making some big deals in the past year. Still, Josh Giddey’s restricted free agency has left the Bulls in a tricky situation.

There is no doubt that the Bulls value Giddey and would like to see him on the squad again next season. However, the Australian point guard’s asking price of $30 million per year has put both sides in a tough spot throughout negotiations this offseason.

With the result yet to be determined, [Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25237680-predicting-3-most-likely-outcomes-josh-giddey-chicago-bulls)’s Andy Bailey recently wrote about some of the likeliest outcomes for the Giddey saga, including a sign-and-trade. While cap space is a bit of an issue for most opposing teams that have interest in Giddey, a sign-and-trade could be the perfect avenue to get Giddey to a new spot.

Citing [Jake Fischer](https://marcstein.substack.com/p/jake-fischer-latest-lots-of-fresh)’s recent report that a few Eastern Conference teams could have some interest in Giddey, there is a real chance that the Bulls make a deal of that nature. Sending Giddey to another team in the East might not be Chicago’s first choice, but if the return is too good to pass up, Giddey will be facing the Bulls plenty in the coming years.
