Luka Dončić out for Slovenia vs. Lithuania on Friday, will play on Saturday vs. Latvia

As Slovenia continues to build up toward EuroBasket, Luka Dončić is continuing to come along slowly. After playing in just one of their opening two warm-up games last weekend, Luka will again play in just one game this weekend, as he will sit out Friday’s game against Lithuania.

He will, however, play on Saturday against Latvia.

Luka played against Germany in Slovenia’s first exhibition game and looked great, scoring 19 points despite not playing much of the second half. However, he sat out the rematch two days later. By sitting out Friday’s game, he’ll have taken a little more than a week off between games.

Considering the sheer number of warm-up games Slovenia scheduled, it always seemed likely Luka was going to sit out more than one of them. At the same time, he will likely need to start playing to get into rhythm for the real games.

After this weekend, Slovenia will turn things up a little bit with games against Great Britain on Tuesday and Serbia on Thursday. Then, EuroBasket officially kicks off on Aug. 28, a week after the Serbia contest. So, this could be one of the last times that Luka sits out a game this summer.

Once EuroBasket kicks off, Luka will be playing at least every other day with one back-to-back mixed in across their five group play games.

Saturday’s game against Latvia, which is set to tip at 9 a.m. PT, is available on Courtside1891, though there is a subscription fee. All EuroBasket games will be available on the site once the tournament starts.
