With the 2025/26 Premier League season on the horizon, Fantasy Premier League managers are hunting for players who can deliver results week in, week out and offer consistency to help form the backbone of a competitive squad.
Identifying these ‘set and forget’ options early is crucial – this allows FPL managers to focus on tweaking other areas of the squad while still racking up points from dependable performers throughout the year.
In recent seasons, several Premier League stars have proven to be particularly appealing for long-term ownership, and GIVEMESPORT has looked at five players who fit the bill and can reduce the stress of constant FPL squad reshuffles – with both Chelsea and Liverpool superstars making the list.
Mohamed Salah (£14.5m)
Mo Salah celebrates Liverpool winning the Premier League
Having last campaign's Premier League Player of the Season and top scorer in your fantasy team is surely a no-brainer. Mohamed Salah enjoyed his career-best season with Liverpool in 2024/25 and played a key role in helping the Reds win their 20th English title.
While he finished the campaign with 29 goals and 18 assists, Salah also shattered his own FPL single-season record by collecting a staggering 344 points, surpassing his 303-point haul from 2017/18 by a massive 41 points.
The Egyptian forward enjoyed possibly the greatest individual FPL performance ever and forged entirely new benchmarks by delivering double-digit point hauls almost weekly. He also demonstrated unmatched consistency – becoming the first player in Premier League history to register 10+ goals and 10+ assists in four consecutive seasons.
Cole Palmer (£10.5m)
cole palmer-1
Cole Palmer was once again Chelsea’s standout and most consistent performer in 2024/25 – he registered 15 goals and nine assists and notched a total of 214 Fantasy Premier League points, which placed him third among the top midfield scorers.
Palmer often dazzled with regular double-digit hauls in the first part of the season, while his form somewhat dipped from January, when he registered just three goals and three assists in his final 18 appearances of the campaign.
That was surely the exception rather than the rule, as Palmer rediscovered his shooting boots at the FIFA Club World Cup, where he led Chelsea to the title by scoring two goals and providing an assist in the 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Erling Haaland (£14.0m)
erling haaland
Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland delivered a strong Fantasy Premier League campaign in 2024/25 with 181 points, having scored 22 goals and provided three assists across 31 appearances, and is still a must-have pick for most FPL managers.
It is safe to say that last season was quite underwhelming for both Haaland and Man City, as Pep Guardiola’s side finished third in the Premier League table after four consecutive title victories, while Haaland registered statistically his worst campaign in England since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
The Norway international will surely be aiming to bounce back in 2025/26, with his FPL price dropping to £14.0m from a record-breaking £15.0m, which made him the most expensive FPL player ever last season.
Daniel Munoz (£5.5m)
daniel munoz
Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz proved to be one of Fantasy Premier League’s most consistent budget defenders in 2024/25 and saw his value increase slightly as a result, from £5.0m to £5.5m.
Munoz collected a total of 132 points last term, having recorded four goals and six assists in 37 appearances, and registered one of the highest expected goal involvement figures among defenders.
The Colombian defender proved he is a reliable and consistent performer – he delivered points across a range of fixtures, rather than solely relying on favourable matchups, which makes him an ideal ‘set and forget’ option who can quietly rack up steady returns.
Nathan Collins (£5.0m)
Nathan Collins
Brentford’s Nathan Collins emerged as one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders in 2024/25 – the only outfield player in the league to play every single minute.
Collins accumulated 127 FPL points across his 38 starts for the Bees, which ranked him among the top-performing defenders, and saw his value increase from £4.5m to £5.0m this year as a result.
Aside from his reliability, the Irish defender delivered points across various categories, with two goals and five assists under his belt in 2024/25, which makes him a reliable and cost-effective option for FPL managers for the upcoming season.
