What Man Utd staff found ‘immediately striking’ about Benjamin Sesko during transfer from RB Leipzig

Benjamin Sesko made an immediate – and powerful – first impression on a Manchester United staff member at Carrington amid his stunning big-money transfer from RB Leipzig this summer.

The 22-year-old Slovenian striker’s blockbuster move to Old Trafford was announced and confirmed last week after Manchester United hijacked Newcastle’s approach.

United agreed to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for an initial fee of £66.3m and the combined transfer package could reach £73.7m through add-ons.

The Red Devils tabled their first – and only – formal bid for Sesko this month and the former Leipzig ace chose to sign for United instead of Newcastle this summer.

Sesko completed his United medical last Friday ahead of the Red Devils officially unveiling him as a player for the Premier League club the following day.

The Slovenia international was presented to United fans alongside Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha at Old Trafford ahead of the Fiorentina match.

Benjamin Sesko caught the eye of one Carrington staff member during his Man Utd move from RB Leipzig

Benjamin Sesko is Manchester United’s fourth signing this summer following the deals for Matheus Cunha in June and Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon in July.

The Red Devils had been on the hunt for a new striking option to boost Ruben Amorim’s firing line in the United first-team squad for the new season.

United wasted no time pushing forward with Sesko’s medical ahead of unveiling the former Newcastle target’s official transfer to the whole world last Saturday.

Sesko’s move to United came during the opening of the refurbished Carrington training complex last week and ahead of the friendly match at Old Trafford.

Mark Froggatt produced an ‘inside story’ piece for Manchester United’s official website about the re-opening of the Carrington complex amid Sesko’s transfer.

He admitted that last Friday he met Sesko for the first time and he was blown away by the “immediately striking” features of his “height” and his “physical presence.”

Mark Froggatt highlighted that the 6ft 5in Sesko was an imposing figure and the “heavily tattooed” United striker was “oozing confidence” amid his arrival.

He wrote in his editorial that he would “poetically” label the former Leipzig ace as a “unit” and Sesko was a friendly presence among the United staff at Carrington.

The Slovenia and United striker “did his best to remember names” after interacting with “hundreds of people” and was taken away to be shown the club’s third kit.

Froggatt revealed that Sesko had one request for him during their interaction at Carrington when he was saw what the Adidas kit for the new season looked like.

Sesko asked him: “Can I take this?”

The Red Devils summer signing took part in his first training session at the club under United manager Ruben Amorim at the Carrington complex last Sunday.
